Name: Indira Louis

Message: I first met Indra when we were both teaching at Good Shepherd Convent, Kotahena in 1963. I knew Ivan from very early on when we lived in Mutwal. Edmund knew Ivan at University At that time Ivan was courting Indira. These friendships and bonds have endured to this day.
When Indra and Ivan came to England they spent a few days with us. Indra, an accomplished cook, taught me to make 'sothi' using desiccated coconut rather than bottled milk. At Christmas I received my share of Christmas cake. I also used to receive date cake when she made them. As I repeatedly asked her for the recipe of the date cake, she turned up with a brand new cake tin and the recipe. Her generosity knew no bounds.
It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to Indra, in the belief that she has gone to her just reward. May angels transport her to her place of rest that she so justly deserves.
Indira and Edmund

Message: Aunty Indra was kind and generous hearted. We witnessed her love, not just for her family but for her nephews, nieces & grandchildren. As young boys in Sydney, Aunty sent us with gifts from London.  As young adults, when we visited London, Aunty diplayed her love through her cooking and other acts of kindness.  Every year, without fail she would always write and send birthday cards, sending her love, to her Godson Rishi. Her love and devotion to all her family and to God will always be remembered.
Aunty Indra, we will remember you always,

Message: My dearest condolences to Uncle Ivan, Ajith and Corinne. I can probably only count on one hand the number of times I have met Aunty Indra in person. Such are the downsides of living here in Australia. However, on those few visits I will always remember Aunty Indra's warmth and affection to me, starting from a little boy when I visited the UK age 10 and then on repeated visits as a young man. She gave me a place to stay as well as kept me well-fed thank to a wonderful home-cooking. She was a family-oriented person, and her passing for me is a reminder to keep family first no matter how much life can get in the way. She was a dear sister to my father (Bonny), and I know how much her steering and guidance meant to him - truly his big Akka. May her soul rest in peace.

Name: Robert (Ana) Ananda-Rajah

Message:   Message to Ivan, Ajith, Corrine, grandchildren and the extended family of Ivan and Indra all over the world from Robert & Vimala Ananda-Rajah, Sydney, Australia. Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing away of a beautiful, kind, generous and loving soul we had the privilege of knowing and being in contact with for nearly half a century. We met Indra and Ivan in Zambia in 1973 and became close to them during their stay there and after their move to the UK. Our friendship was so close that Ivan and Indra became the Godparents of our son Steven who was born in 1982. Two of Ana's sisters Hilda and Emelda were at Holy Family Convent, Jaffna at the same time as Teresa and Indra. Bonny and Vimala were at Peradeniya University at the same time. We had the pleasure of meeting Indra's siblings Niranjan, Suba, Jacinta and Nirmala at Bonny's son Jonathan's wedding in Sydney last month. I have also met Punitha at my cousin Malliga's place in Croydon, UK. We have been visiting Ivan and Indra during our trips to the UK. The last time we visited them, Indra was frail, but somehow, she organised delicious short eats for us. Ivan made our visit memorable. We will always remember the many times we visited them and the beautiful meals she prepared and served us. (Ivan took care of the liquor!). We will miss her warmth, laughter and hospitality. Whilst grieving at her separation from us, we should not forget to celebrate her life that was full of achievement, love and friendship with everyone she came close to. We will remember her in our prayers. May the Good Lord receive her and take care of her in His kingdom. Ivan, may God bless you and keep you healthy and safe. May God bless us all, especially Ivan and Indra's entire family.

Message:  Aunt Indra was a true friend and a loving second mum to me. I will never forget the time she spent caring and consoling me when my father passed away. The kindness, generosity and comfort she showed to me then and throughout, she has also shown to everyone else who was blessed to know her. She was a wonderful soul and she worked so hard for others so God, seeing that she needed rest, took her in His loving arms. She will be deeply missed by her family& friends. "God never sees His children die; He simply sees them coming home". She has gone to her father's mansion in heaven to live. This thought consoles me. I know that one day I'll be able to see her. Message:  Dear Miss Rayappu (as we called you when we first met you in Form 4 at Good Shepherd Convent, Kotahena. Sri Lanka), We were deeply saddened to hear yesterday, of your demise. You introduced us to Botany, Zoology and Chemistry in Form 4. That was our first year in science and your explanations were so thorough that we could easily understand all aspects of these subjects, especially Chemistry (the challenge at that time) so well. You listened to our questions and answered them so patiently. We had the good fortune of having you as our teacher again the following year. You were a pleasure to listen to. I hope we were a pleasure to teach. You were strict with us about our work, but you had good reason for that. The same 2 years were significant in your life too. The first year was the momentous occasion of your wedding. You brought us wedding cake and your engagement and wedding pictures and answered all our questions there too. The following year was the birth of your son Ajith. When you returned to school we asked if we could meet your new baby. You very kindly agreed. You were the very first teacher of whom we had had the courage to ask for such an invitation and we visited you and your baby in your home in Borella. You treated us so well and we had such an easy conversation that we chatted like friends. After we left school, we lost touch because we heard that you had gone to UK for further studies. Some years later, my husband and I were walking up Pereira Lane to attend evening Mass at St.Lawrence's Church when I heard someone call my name. I turned around to see you, also going for Mass. You had a relative in the same lane whom you were visiting. I introduced my dear husband to you and you had some very kind words to say to him about me as a student. Those words still ring in my ears. Sadly that was the last time that we saw each other, because we heard again that you had gone abroad. Miss Rayappu or rather Mrs. Pedropillai the memories of school days in your class are still very fresh in our minds. Thank you for all those days of instruction and education. All my fellow classmates and I wish you a happy journey to Heaven Miss Indra and we pray that you be rewarded abundantly by the Almighty Blessed Trinity for all the good you did while you were on this earth. May God grant your loved ones the strength that they need to bear your loss on this earth. (Please whisper a good word in God's ear for us). Till we meet again, dear teacher, on Heaven's Beautiful Shore - Indra Rayen Rodrigo (Toronto, Canada) and the rest.

Message:  My dearest sister. Although we are very saddened by your passing, I am so fortunate to have had you as my loving sister, thoughtful sister-in-law to my wife, and wonderful aunt to my children.  Never a birthday did you forget, nor a gift did you not send.  Always putting others needs and wishes before your own. You have inspired us all through your utmost sincerity to all you touched.  Your exhaustive charity to your family, extended family, and those less fortunate will never be forgotten.  Your kindness and devotion to God are attributes we all wish to emulate.  You are my dear sister who always exemplified what it meant to be a true Christian. I will forever cherish the day you took me to Kingston Mall about 20 years ago, shopping for clothes and gifts for my children, and later a coffee break that lasted over three hours.  I remember being totally immersed in your early childhood stories from Singapore and memories of my parents and my older siblings. That was a truly sublime moment and shall be eternalized in my heart. May you, our faithful departed, rest in peace and may God grant strength and comfort to your family during this time of great sorrow. All my love, Joseph Rayappu

Message:  We are shocked and grieved to learn the sad loss of your beloved wife Indra, an affectionate mother at her ripe age. We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to all family members It is hard to believe she has gone but then life is cruel but death is certain, it is the fate of all. Times of grief come to all, the hurt is too much but always remember God's everlasting Love and Mercy will be always there to console. Indra's children should rejoice and be proud to be blessed with a devoted virtuous graceful mother who cared with much affection and love always encouraged them to blossom in life and be respected among relatives and elite She had lived a fruitful glorious life and accomplished all her ambitious deeds in life and she responded for her Creators call. There is nothing to regret as she is safe in Jesus's arms in Heaven praising and glorifying with the Angels. May the Merciful God of Love grant Indra eternal Bliss in Heaven Assured of our prayers Rita & David.  MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE
